Welcome from the Program Director

Dr. Trey Clark

Welcome to the Cardiology Fellowship Program at UMMC! On behalf of our faculty and fellows, I extend my warmest greetings as you embark on this important journey in your medical career.

Established in 1965, our fellowship program has a well-established record of providing outstanding cardiology subspecialty training. UMMC has a proud history in cardiovascular medicine, including pioneering work in heart transplantation, publishing the internationally recognized Guyton & Hall textbook of medical physiology, and serving as home of the Jackson Heart Study.

UMMC is the only academic medical center and Level 1 trauma center in the state of Mississippi. This environment provides our fellows ample exposure to a diverse patient population and wide array of pathology. Educational opportunities across all disciplines in cardiology are supported by state-of-the-art facilities in our University Heart center. University Heart is directly adjacent to the main adult hospital and houses 4 catheterization laboratories, 2 electrophysiology laboratories, and the non-invasive imaging laboratory. Furthermore, our cardiology conference room and faculty offices are located in the University Heart building. This environment facilitates learning for our trainees in a centralized location with leading-edge technology.

UMMC is truly a wonderful place to work. The people, culture, and mission within cardiology are the best parts of our program. We value a collegial and professional environment focused on provided high quality evidence-based care. Our faculty are award winning teachers and are committed to preparing our fellows to have fulfilling careers in cardiovascular medicine. Your success is our success.  We welcome your interest in our program.
